4,884 get flats under PMAY in Pradhikaran area

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana or the PMAY scheme is a Central Government initiated housing scheme. Launched in July 2015, it aims to ensure affordable housing among all the citizens of rural and urban India. Since its implementation, the scheme has been widely adopted across different states. A huge number of people today avail housing units under the PMAY scheme.

It is also notable that several regions have taken the initiative to implement PMAY through other sub-schemes. One such authority is the Pimpri-Chinchwad New Township Authority. As part of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, a total of 4,884 people have won a flat in Sector 12 of the Pimpri-Chinchwad New Township Authority. This township is also popularly known as Pradhikaran and is inhabited by a significant number of citizens.

At present, the construction of flats under the above-mentioned draw scheme is still in process. The flats have not yet been offered for housing. To further facilitate this arrangement, the Pimpri-Chinchwad New Township Authority has also announced that it will undertake the construction of another 6,000 flats across Section 12.

The list of beneficiaries who availed of flats in Pradhikaran was announced through a draw.

Flat Allotment – Economically Weaker Section and Low Income Groups

Ever since it was introduced, the primary objective of the PMAY scheme has been to especially ensure affordable housing among the Economically Weaker Section and Low-Income Groups. The allotment made under the Pimpri-Chinchwad New Township Authority too was targeted at the Economically Weaker Section and Low-Income Groups category. While 3,317 flats are constructed to serve the EWS category, 1,566 units have been constructed to be occupied by the LIG category.

Eligible Candidates – Income Criteria

Candidates considered as part of the draw had to meet a set eligibility criterion. For individuals to be considered under the Economically Weaker Section, the annual salary of the family must be ₹ 3 lakh. On the other hand, the income criteria of individuals under the Low-Income Category should not be more than ₹ 6 lakh.

The Pimpri-Chinchwad New Township Authorities received nearly 20,000 applications as part of the LWC and EWS categories.

As per a statement by the CEO of the Pimpri-Chinchwad New Township Authority, beneficiaries of the scheme will be first offered provisional allotment certificates. Once the same has been completed, the authorities will then start the process of scrutinizing the documents presented by the beneficiaries. These will include documents such as the caste certificate and income certificate basis which the allotment will be confirmed.

The CEO also stated that the price of an EWS flat was Rs. 9.90 lakh while the price of a LIG flat was Rs. 32 lakh. In the EWS category, the beneficiaries will get a direct subsidy of Rs. 2.5 lakh. They have to pay Rs. 7.4 lakh. In the LIG category, the beneficiaries will get a cross-linked subsidy on the interest they pay on loan, to the tune of  Rs. 2.5 lakh.  The authority emphasized on the fact that the process of allotting the flats is completely computerised ensuring transparency. They further reassured citizens who did not stand a chance in the draw by saying that those who did not get a flat should not worry as the next draw of lots will be held for 6,000 flats. Local residents who missed out during this allotment should apply for those flats.

The PMAY scheme has ensured that a large number of people can attain their dream of owning a home, despite financial constraints. The subsidies are noteworthy and you can visit Finserv MARKETS to know more about how to check name in PMAY list
